Student and Family Resources

In order to maintain a safe and organized drop-off and pick-up of students, we have implemented the following for both morning and afternoon sessions at Barry Tech:

Drop-Off

• All buses will drop off students (both large and small buses) by entering from the Cantiague Lane entrance
• All parents will drop off their children by entering Bridge Street from Prospect Avenue

Pick-Up

• All buses will pick up as what has been done in the past.
  • Large buses in front of the building by entering from Cantiague Lane
  • Smaller buses will be positioned in the numbered slots in the back of the building. Small buses enter from Prospect Avenue and Bridge Street.
• All parents will pick up students from the street OR wait until ALL buses are cleared from the campus. Students will not be signed out of the building after 9:45 a.m./1:45 p.m. Please plan accordingly for all personal appointments during the week.

1. Students and parents/guardians must complete the Early Release Form in advance.
2. Parents/guardians must submit a valid photo identification through a secure upload link.
3. The front desk receptionist is required to call the parent to validate the request (parent/guardian will be called based on the number in our student management system - SchoolTool). Note: If the parent/guardian is picking up the child, please have all documentation completed in advance.
4. If the parent/guardian cannot be contacted or if there is no photo identification the student will not be released.
5. For the safety and security of our families, Early Dismissals will not be available after 9:30am for the morning session and after 1:30 p.m. for the afternoon session.

The agency has always been serious about being prepared for emergencies. Each year, the agency's entire Emergency Plan is reviewed and updated to meet New York State regulations.The plan addresses an enormous range of issues, from dealing with the onset of a crisis situation, to addressing the psychological and emotional needs of students and adults in its aftermath.

When an emergency occurs, the first and foremost concern of every staff member is the safety of the children in our care.This guide provides a brief description of how the school district will manage an emergency and how parents can support those vital efforts.

Throughout the school year, different media groups (television stations, local newspapers, school production classes, district communications staff, etc.) will produce stories, videos and photographs about activities and events happening in the Nassau BOCES schools. These articles, photographs and videos may be posted on the Internet, aired on television and cable stations, or used in Nassau BOCES promotional materials and on its website and social media sites. If you do NOT want to have your child(ren) photographed or videotaped for the above purposes, please sign and return this form to your child’s school office. This form applies only to the current school year.

Computers and other electronic technologies are vital components of both classroom and remote instruction whether synchronous (live) or asynchronous (through the use of various media that are not live including previously recorded) instruction (also referred to as distance learning).

Guide to the Parent Portal

1. Log In

URL: SchoolTool Parent Portal

Username = The parent email address that was provided on the district application

Example: BSmith@gmail.com

Password = The temporary password that was emailed to you by SchoolTool

It is very important to change your temporary password! See directions below.

Note: If you did not receive a temporary password, at the login screen click on “Forgot Password.” A new temporary password will be sent to your email address.

Changing Your Password

1. Go to My Home
2. Click on Account tab
3. Enter old password
4. Enter new password
5. Confirm password
6. Click on Change Password

2. The SchoolTool Menu

Use the menu on the left to navigate between sub-modules, which may include My Home.

My Home will allow you to view your student(s) and their information.

3. Viewing Student Information

Click on the My Home sub-module. Then click on the photo or name of the student you wish to view. This will bring you to the student record.

Here you can view the personal information section at the top.

Underneath this area you may select to view various tabs for more information, based on your district’s settings.

Parent Portal Tabs

*Note: Tabs vary by district

Schedule Tab

View the student schedule in standard or grid format. If enabled, click the printer icon to print the schedule.

Attendance Tab

View attendance data for daily or course attendance by year. When viewing course attendance, click the tallies button to view attendance tallies.

Grades Tab

View published student grades by year and marking period. If enabled, click the printer icon to print report cards.

1. Log In Screen

1. Enter your school’s SchoolTool website using the edit button.
2. Enter your username and password and click Log In, or click to sign in with Google or Microsoft.
3. Select a language using the globe icon.

2. Student Home

1. Use the down arrow to select the student you would like to view.
2. Select which tab you would like to view: Student Information, Grades, Assignments, Schedule, Attendance, or Contacts.

3. Settings & Notifications

1. Click the hamburger icon to go to the menu.
2. Click Settings to change your notification and/or language preferences.
3. Click Notifications to review your notifications.
